The city of Carmel, Indiana, sought to explore innovative planning approaches for its expanding suburban area that would preserve its character and provide an alternative to the traditional car-centric standard.
Mobycon delivered a custom masterclass that strengthened the understanding and practical skills of decision-makers and stakeholders in roundabout planning and design.
Participants engaged in group discussions, intersection design exercises, and a site visit. The first day focused on elected officials to align with their roles in decision-making and setting a vision for their city’s mobility values, while the second day included more detailed technical content geared towards city staff.
We introduced them to concepts like Dutch-style protected roundabouts and intersections and helped them see how these roundabouts could fit in their environment. Participants left the workshop ready to take action to build on the strong foundation of sustainable mobility infrastructure that Carmel has built.
Cities globally face similar challenges when creating policies and designs for more people-friendly spaces. Mobycon offers workshops on various topics, including intersection, roundabout, and shared space design, to adapt Dutch inspiration to local environments. Our interactive training style encourages attendees to think collectively and uncover new and practical mobility solutions.
