Not Your Average Team Meetup: From Curling to Pitching New Ideas

Recently, our USA team made their way to Ottawa, Canada, to join forces with the Canadian team for our annual North American Mobyday. This team meetup brought everyone together for a half week with workshops, team-building activities, and plenty of inspiration. In this blog, we dive into our reflections and highlights from the meetup and an even more incredible year.

Innovation doesn’t happen in silos. It’s about connection, new perspectives, and stepping into the unexpected that spark real change. We prioritize meetups like our recent gathering in snowy Ottawa, Canada, because great ideas come from somewhere other than our comfort zones. They come from stepping onto the curling course, sharing a meal of stroopwafels, shawarma, and Tim Tams, and diving into honest conversations about our work, values, and ambitions.

For a few days, we brought together our North American team, a mix of Americans, Canadians, and Dutchies, and something transformative happened. We took time to reflect on the past year, evaluating what we’ve accomplished, where we can improve, and what new ideas we’re ready to bring to life. When a team this small but mighty connects, you can feel the momentum. The beauty of being an agile, innovative group is that you get to build together.

Passionate People, Shared Purpose

Working with a team so passionate about what they do is inspiring. When you ask team members about their dream job, they say this is it. There’s something special about being surrounded by people who are driven to understand how things are built so they can improve the status quo. Whether it’s finding ways to transform transportation systems to benefit everyone or fixing a piano, we go far.

Learning from each other’s perspectives and experiences regarding commuting and transportation is equally fascinating. The knowledge-sharing that happens in these moments fuels our creativity and ambition.

These meetups are more than just fun, although curling was surprisingly fun, especially surrounded by snow and great teammates. They’re about building trust, and sharing knowledge, and inspiration, just like our work with our clients during training, workshops, or masterclasses. Whether we’re meeting clients or each other, something clicks when we’re in the same room. The conversations go deeper. The ideas get bolder, and that energy fuels everything we do moving forward.

This past year, we’ve been moving, meeting clients, traveling to new cities, and connecting as a team in our Ottawa, Berlin, and Delft offices. We’ve launched a podcast, celebrated new team members, and are still growing. It’s been a year of growth. We’ve delivered high-impact training sessions, study tours, and masterclasses that our clients tell us have “changed the trajectory of their work and lives“. We’ve pushed the needle within limitations, kept learning from each other, and shared best practices across borders.

What’s Next?

Looking ahead, we’re excited for what’s next: more inspiring collaborations, new offices (stay tuned), and celebrating our 10-year anniversary in North America. We have so many stories to share and places to help transform, always with the same vision: to reduce car reliance, create livable spaces, and build a more connected, sustainable world.

We couldn’t do any of this without you—our clients, partners, and teammates—who trust, inspire, and remind us to keep thinking outside the box. We want to work with you, meet you, and most of all, we want to build together

Thank you for being part of the journey. Let’s keep building.
