Learning to cycle at school in Europe: Brett Petzer provides the Dutch approach for the FUB

On Friday, March 26th, the French Federation of Bicycle Users (FUB) is hosting a webinar to highlight concrete examples of European initiatives focused on the education, enabling and encouragement of children learning to ride a bicycle. Looking at different European approaches, several speakers from countries Belgium, Scotland, Norway, the Netherlands and Switzerland will present approaches specific to their individual cycling cultures in order to help inspire the development, improvement and enrichment of practices in France. Our newest colleague, Brett Petzer, joins the speakers to provide the Dutch context of children and cycling.

Learning to ride a bike and real autonomy for children: The child at the centre of the Dutch cycling culture

Presenters: Brett Petzer

Friday, 26 March; 10:00-12:00 CET (Europe)

From education, to the design of the streets, children in the Netherlands enjoy a freedom and autonomy of cycling unparalleled in many other countries. Brett shares how by putting children at the centre of the approach to cycling, the Dutch have created a culture of children cycling for generations.
