Tuesday, June 16: 13:00-13:15 CEST | Workshop | Castello 1
Speaker: Dagmar Köhler, Strategic Advisor
Women in Cycling is gaining momentum across Europe, but how do we turn visibility into real change? This interactive workshop brings together women’s cycling networks from five countries and the EU level to exchange perspectives, share insights, and co-create solutions for a more inclusive and impactful cycling sector. With active chapters across Europe, Women in Cycling is working to strengthen representation, connect stakeholders, and inspire more women to shape and choose cycling from a perspective of planning, product, communication, advocacy, and collaboration.
Based on recent studies from France, Germany, and Italy, this session invites participants into a dynamic World Café format, where key questions around visibility, inclusivity, industry transformation, and cross-border collaboration will be explored. Together with representatives from Germany, Benelux, Switzerland, Italy, France, and the EU level, participants will rotate through discussion tables, contribute their ideas, and build meaningful connections. Join to expand your network, learn from diverse European perspectives, and develop concrete next steps to advance women’s representation in the cycling sector across borders, roles, and disciplines.
Wednesday, June 17: 16:00-17:00 CEST | Fireside Chat | Arengo
Speaker: Dagmar Köhler, Strategic Advisor
As more women experience how cycling can be a safe, comfortable, and efficient way to make their daily trips, particularly care trips, cities are starting to respond with more gender-responsive approaches. How can we continue this trend and incorporate another important stage in many women’s lives: pregnancy. Cycling provides a comfortable, less physically demanding, and more dependable option. However, there remain misconceptions around cycling while pregnant.
In this fireside chat, the benefits cycling during pregnancy offers will be discussed from a global perspective, as well as ways to plan for changing needs. Pregnancy is not a niche experience. The better we understand pregnant women’s experiences, the better we can ensure cycling meets their needs even in this temporary but normal part of life.
Thursday, June 18: 10:45-11:45 CEST | Two-way Track Debate | Arco
Moderator: Dagmar Köhler, Strategic Advisor
Speaker: Anna Wyner, Sustainable Mobility Consultant
Fatbikes, electric bicycles with wide tires, large saddles, and pedal-assist up to 25 km/h, have rapidly gained popularity in the Netherlands. Their rise has also sparked heated debate: concerns about safety, rule compliance, and crowded cycling infrastructure are increasingly discussed in municipalities and even in the Dutch parliament. Should cities regulate them more strictly? Or ban them altogether?
Join this interactive session to explore the issue from multiple perspectives. Participants will become members of the fictional town hall of Rimitopia, where a decision on fatbikes must be made. After statements from different stakeholders (cycling advocates, researchers, citizens, and city authorities) about safety, user groups, needs and priorities, the floor opens for debate. Your voice matters: together, the assembly will decide whether Rimitopia should regulate, restrict, or ban fatbikes.
Friday, June 19: 10:00-10:45 CEST | Lectures | Arco
Speaker: Anna Wyner, Sustainable Mobility Consultant
Cycling is a powerful tool in the fight against climate change, offering low-carbon mobility while supporting healthier, more resilient cities. This session explores how cycling infrastructure and policies can both migitate emissions and help cities adapt to changing climate conditions. Speakers will present solutions for designing cycling networks that remain comfortable and reliable in hot and humid environments. highlighting materials, shading, and urban design strategies. The discussion will also feature a call to action for climate-resilient active mobility in Global South cities, where rapid urbanisation and climate risks demand inclusive, scalable solutions.

“At a time when cities around the world are reclaiming public space away from cars and towards people faster than ever, I have a newfound determination to create and help enable change. I am excited to help bring Dutch expertise and experiences to the rest of the world, in hopes that we can transition to a more just, equitable, and sustainable world.”

“Transport is not an end but a key enabler to live, work, participate, and thrive. In most parts of the world, the potential of active travel is yet to be elevated. I am committed to helping cities in Germany and abroad connect with the Dutch experience and reflect on overarching goals and local necessities.”

“Good graphic design tells a story. It corresponds to the purpose and idea behind a product. In my work, I always seek the perfect mix of creativity and functionality. Great design speaks for itself.”

Our team looks forward to being there. So, come say hi, exchange ideas, and learn from each other!
