The Potsdam City Administration commissioned Mobycon to conduct a traffic safety analysis at three intersections using intelligent cameras. The analysis takes a pro-active approach to safety; it considered not only documented crashes but also near-miss incidents to gain a better understanding of the safety performance of the intersections. Three to five cameras were installed at each intersection for 72 hours to monitor all movements in the entire intersection. The camera footage was then analyzed using AI-based software.

The software provided information about near-miss incidents between different road users. Mobycon examined conflict situations between bicycle and motor vehicle users, between pedestrians and cars, as well as interactions between motor vehicles. A final report summarized and evaluated the data, providing high-level recommendations for addressing conflict points.
